Well, I suppose it was time I got around to doing this. Throughout this "sketchbook" will basically be a progress log of my art. It'll likely be dominated by school related items, but I hope to add on my own things as well, once I actually eventually get around to them. But mainly I'll be posting works in progress, final products, along with my own thoughts and feelings on the matter.

I'm sure I'll be posting things that will be completely out of this world weird, as well as bad. Feel free to laugh at my expense!

And while you laugh, I highly encourage comments and constructive criticism. Really! I'd love to know what you think, your opinions, and general questions. I'm more than happy to reply and comment back. Intelligent conversation is always good.

The majority of the work I'll be showing will be from my Junior year (and above!) as an undergraduate at the Pratt Institute, studying Digital Animation. Maybe I'll eventually upload older things. We'll see when I get there.

Anyways, without further ado, Everything below is the property of Kellios. Do not steal, or I will be forced to eat your liver. With fava beans and a nice chianti, of course. Pfbtpfbtpfbtpfbtpfbt.
For those of you in RI, here it is finally.

It actually ended up being a lot more difficult than I originally imagined. I couldn't find the composition I wanted for the longest time, this is actually the second incarnation of my rooster (remodeled from scratch days before it was due), and I was having so much trouble trying to get it looking right in Maya that it got to the point of, "Fuck it!" and decided to do a lot of postwork.

...It ended up coming out a lot better than I thought it would.

So anyways, full res under the cut. I also included an animated gif as to what I did to get the original Maya render (first frame) to what it looks like in the final. Hope you like.

21st-Nov-2008 12:29 am - zBrush: Bull Head
Some more zBrushing. Started this in class, for about an hour and a half, then after class put about another hour into it. Was going for a relief feel to it, and I think it comes across. Well, hence the odd plane in the back, but considering I first made this from a plane, it makes sense.

Again, click to see all pretty details.

A head I spent a couple hours on. Click to see full sized, detailed and pretty image that is sure to break your window.

12th-Oct-2008 08:27 am - Senior Project Teaser
So since this was last updated, I've sorta completely and utterly changed my final Thesis idea. Been working my ass off, to say the least. Have a little teaser picture.

I'm aware of the eyes, which I haven't even started to address yet. I want to make them as large and glass/wet as possibly, which will be an interesting challenge. We'll see. There's still some hair issues too which I need to address (I haven't made sideburns yet, which is kinda killing this at the moment).

Anyways, yeah, she's my main character of my new story. Can't see it in this picture, but her pajamas are adorable. They're little birds. Her socks kinda make me happy too. Face texture is nearly there.

But yeah, some progress.
So since the new season of Ninja Turtles began airing I can now finally strat posting some of the things that I've worked on in the show. These earlier episodes I was doing more linework (like what's below), but around episode 160-ish (about four episodes in) I was given color duties. So! Below is some of the backgrounds that have already been featured in the show (the first two episodes). ABout blood time I can post these, I did them ages ago. Silly NDA clauses.

And of course some more. )

Of course as the season goes on I'll be posting a lot more. So stay tuned. It's a shell of a time. (Oh har HAR!)
So this is basically my model fully textured and for the most part rigged. Weighting needs to be addressed, but considering some of the feedback I received from my presentations (and my own perfectionist ideals) I'm probably going to completely re-model her anyways. Regardless, this was a great first learning experience into correct character modeling, and I've learned so much from this class, it's ridiculous.

More images and a couple animations. )

Here's also some screens of the living room that I did.

Here's a few miscellaneous things.

And more. )
2nd-May-2008 01:29 am - Character Animation: Final
So this came out so much better than my midterm it's not even funny. I think things finally started to "click" in all the good ways here, and it makes me really happy. Even my professor was very impressed, and that says something.

Finally, I'm feeling a little more like a real animator! There's obviously still plenty of things I can go and tweak with this, but overall? Quite happy with how it turned out.

All animation is me, the environment/background thanks to simplymaya.com, and all character rigs are from highend3d.com.

Draw-A-Thon, as usual, was a complete blast. I stayed mainly in the 30 second room poses, since I felt it'd probably benefit me more as an animator to concentrate on the curve and movement of the body than producing an exact masterpiece. That, and I'm still terribly rusty with my life drawing, anyways. It really showed for the first hour of drawing, but eventually move along much better. Moved into the 10-20 minute room. Here's a few select drawings, as well as a couple other just general sketchbook things. Still wishing I could just draw far more than I do now.

And the rest. )
